Adventures Around Ada

The past week I have been feeling stuck in Ada, so I’ve been going out and just roaming around. I just hop in my car and roam around until I either find something cool or get bored. On one of my trips, I went north of Ada to explore at night. I didn’t find much cool stuff, but I did find a graffitied overpass. I stopped to check out some of the graffiti, but I also figured out it was an overpass for Interstate 75. It was very awesome to see semitrucks go rushing by at 70 miles per hour. I have seen regular trucks go by from a few feet away at 55 miles per hour, but it is a whole other experience with semitrucks going 70. The fact that I was under the overpass also meant that the acoustics were different. I can’t imagine what it is like to be an animal with no understanding of what is going on to when they hear cars going by. I do feel bad for them though.

I also decided to explore to the south of Ada. I have explored a good amount this way, so I was somewhat familiar with the area. For those unfamiliar, there are a good number of windmills down south. The access roads to these windmills do not have any no trespassing signs posted as of the last time I was there. I am not saying it is legal to drive on these roads, but I am saying seeing the huge windmills down there up close is very cool. However, that is not the cool thing I found recently. The cool thing I found was not so much one thing, but many things. It was a massive flock of birds! There had have to have been at least 100 birds landed on and around a bridge I found. It was awesome to see them all take off together.

I also spent some time just parked listening to the noises that happened to be going on. Listening to music and cruising around is fun and all, but it is also good to take a step back and just experience what there is to experience. Ohio may not have nearly the beauty of Colorado or Oregon, but it isn’t all that bad either. To find the beauty you have to look for it and accept what you find. Some people might find a cityscape beautiful; others might find a huge mountain or forest beautiful. I find the ability to just sit and experience my surroundings to be beautiful.

  1. As someone who lives south of Ada, I pass those windmills all the time going home. If you haven’t seen them at night, it’s crazy when all of them have their red lights flashing at the same time. However, I understand being bored in Ada and you need out. There’s plenty of things outside of Ada within driving distance to do and explore!

  2. Hi Danny! That’s so cool that you have find some hidden gems in Ada! Relating to the graffiti under the underpass, I had a similar experience over the summer. I was exploring a new park with my sister and we found a huge underpass and every piece of cement was covered with multiple layers of graffiti. It’s so fun finding hidden gems in the town you live in!
